Territory (Centre of Gravity) is based on your order data or customer addresses. It is typically used when determining where to locate your depot, including adding new depots, or deciding whether to keep, close, or relocate existing ones depending on your requirements. It is also influenced by order density and load sizes, which are key factors in determining the optimal depot location.
For example, if the majority of daily orders are concentrated in the northern region and generally require small, frequent deliveries, placing a depot closer to that area can reduce travel time and improve service efficiency.
When using Territory, the system allocates orders based on travel time to the depot, selecting the depot with the shortest travel time to each order. Each order is treated as an individual point, and the system aims to position depots effectively relative to these points.
When using Territory (Centre of Gravity), the user must specify the number of depots to add or remove. The system then calculates the most suitable depot locations based on the user’s requirements.
