Question
You want to renew an existing PTV xServer 2 license or request a new license, and you need to know which information must be provided to generate the license key.
Case 1: You already have a PTV xServer 2 license
If you already have a PTV xServer 2 license (valid or expired) and the server/machine where it is installed is NOT CHANGED:
Please send us the existing xServer 2 license file. This allows us to renew or reissue the license without additional system information.
Case 2: No existing license file available
If you do not have an existing license file, we require the HardwareID of the target machine.
Answer
How to retrieve the HardwareID
Follow these steps on the server where xServer 2 is installed:
Open the xServer 2 installation directory.
Double-click the file
displayHardwareId.bat.A text file named
LocalHardwareID.txtwill be generated automatically.Open the file and copy the alphanumeric HardwareID.
Send this HardwareID to us so that we can generate your xServer 2 license key.
Example of a HardwareID: 1415f7jxjdk gf18e2b6mm363&&4172dd405-0764-3860-b2ae-720ad90fd479&&332f23877-678f-37cd-96ce-fb604e1d5b5a
Note : To generate the Hardware ID in the file LocalHardwareID.txt, it is required to have at least Java version 17 installed.
Additions hints
The HardwareID is machine-specific:
If the server changes (hardware or virtual machine), a new license will be required.
Always run displayHardwareId.bat directly on the target machine where xServer 2 will run.
Make sure the file is executed with sufficient permissions.
The license generation process cannot start without either:
the existing license file, or
a valid HardwareID.
